Look Book Looks

Reactions:
This is the third time in a row I've been late to class. I just had no idea what to wear then as I was going through my closet I saw this orange top and I thought "perfect!" I grabbed it and I was out the door. The second outfit I wore to work yesterday, I got so many compliments on my eagle necklace. Definitely one of my favorite pieces.
If anybody knows me, they know I am a freak about my hair. I hate getting it cut, even though you're supposed to to keep it healthy, blah blah blah. I've only gotten it trimmed once a year for the past three years. I finally did my January trim yesterday, so in the first picture I have a fresh cut 'do. It's actually pretty nice now, no more dead ends and heat damage. I meant to take a before and after but I forgot.

Sequins & Something New #30

Reactions:
In all honesty I could've worn the flats. It's currently 55 degrees out, I should've worn the flats! Can I take a second and say this non-winter is plain awesome! So far in Massachusetts it's really only snowed significantly this past weekend. Yesterday it was mush colder then I preferred, I was outside for about a half hour meeting all the horses in my horseback riding class, I just kept thinking to myself "why did I take this class I'm going to freeze to death?!" I've changed my mind, it's going to be an awesome class and for 2 credits at that I'll take it. Who am I kidding, really we'll also be in a semi-indoor riding arena. I'm just a little dramatic.

Anyways, I've been using every day as a chance to work through my look book. I'm pretty pleased with the results so far, I've changed things a smidge bit but it's still recognizable. My new item I'm wearing this week is the sequin top that I got for Christmas. It is a sweater material with sequin detailing in the front. Just the perfect amount of sparkle for a beginning of the week pick-me-up.  With all the sequins I just couldn't pick out a piece of jewelry, I kept picking stuff up and putting it down.

One thing I wanted to say about this top is that I did get it for Christmas, but I picked it out and I'm glad I did because this line seems to run small. I think it is more of a tween line so I think that's why the clothes are cut smaller. I usually wear a medium and this I bought in an extra large. I did want it a little slouchy, It's not really cut for that though. I just wanted to say that I recommend you try any clothes on that you buy from this line.

Weekend Loving

Reactions:
I like to at least make some sort of an effort on the weekends. I had a few days off so I had mostly been in bed watching Lifetime movies, so when it came time to leave the house I thought I should at least try a little. I decided on another look from my look book to help with this task. I went with "Weekend Comfort," fitting.

I did switch out the black vest for the gray one I have because I liked the contrast with a black long sleeve top underneath better.

Starting Budget: $100- $43.86 1/2/12
$56.14- 107.61 1/19/12
Over Budget -51.47

Overall, I think setting the budget made me think more consciously about how much I was spending but I also justified some of my purchases because they were legitimate things I need, like the blow dryer and the jeans I can wear to work. I guess I didn't need the brown boots, but if I had found them in the fall I would've probably spent much more. So even though I went over I still think this was a good goal to set.
Thanks for reading!

Hello Beauties,
I recently created a personal look book, it contains outfits that I can wear for various occasions, such as going shopping, school, etc. I am wearing one of the outfits today, I titled it "A Day in the City," but I am actually wearing it to school. This is the look:

Look Book!

Reactions:
I now have look book! I created it over the past few weeks, it contains outfits using my personal clothes to give me some ideas while getting dressed in the morning.  With school starting up again I definitely think this will be a useful tool for me.  I got the idea from this youtube video by LoLuFullyLoaded. I thought is was such an awesome idea! I do use the site Polyvore to create looks from time to time, but they are never realized, and usually fantasy outfits.  I going to try to wear each outfit and do a mini series on how each turned out! You can look at my look book here or click on the link above under my banner.
If anyone would like to create one, please comment below and I will make a tutorial post!
This is one of my favorite looks from the book::

Something New #29

Reactions:
Get in the loop:
Wearing Something New is something I came up with, not to indulge myself every week in something new, but to wear the things I actually buy.  I found myself buying way faster than I could wear what was coming in, (if only my pay check was that way!) and I wanted to challenge myself to use the things I have bought.  And wearing Something New can mean a lot of different things, not just what it seems. Is it a sweater you slipped out of your sister's closet, a new make up look you've been to scared to try, a fabulous DIY you created, or an awesome vintage pair of clip on earrings you picked up? I'm not encouraging the buy, I want to encourage your creativity.  You know that pair of boots hiding in the back of your closet that you could just never figure out exactly what that color went with? Go grab them and slip them on, there must be something about them that piqued your interest. Write your story about it.
Go grab that something and get inspired!

Prep.

Reactions:
Hello Beauties,
I have been away for far too long, my computer was beginning to close my applications a lot and the internet was really slow so I took my baby to the Apple store to get fixed and they told me my hard drive was failing.  My warranty was up in October so it was going to cost me a pretty penny, but luckily boyfriend is a computer genius and gave me his external hard drive to back everything up and he installed a new hard drive for me! Honestly going three years and not backing a single thing up is quite the risk, I am so lucky I didn't lose any of my pictures or my piles of school documents! It is a carefree life I'm living now!
Anyways a few days ago I wore this outfit. I would've liked to wear brown boots with it, naturally I went and ordered 3 pairs online. I figured that one pair had to fit and be my match, haha. I went with this pair  in camel. I like a few Material Girl pairs but Macy's online and in-store were all sold out of my size. And while I do really like the color not tan and not dark brown, I was hoping for something with no exposed zipper. I have this theory that they will be out next year, oh well, at least it's not on the side of the boot. (PS I also got 10% off for being a new customer, I think?)
I am pretty much obsessed with this scarf and wore it three days in a row...

Bourgeois Bow Ring

Reactions:
Photobucket

I first saw this ring in Carly Cristman's Jewelry Collection Video. I just fell in love I thought it was just adorable. I'm not really sure how I figured out it was who it was designed by because she doesn't say it in the video, but anyways it's by Kate Spade.

One day at work a co-worker was telling me about this ring she bought at our store and she described this ring. I freaked out. I want crazy and I called four other stores looking for it. The first three said that they had but it was already sold.  The last store I called had one in all gold in my size, I wasn't able to go pick it up though because my car had broken earlier that week and I wasn't able to get a ride there, it was over 30 minutes away.  I was so bummed.

Later that day my boyfriend's sister picked me up and we went shopping to our premium outlets, stores like Coach, Banana Republic, Off Sacs, Guess, etc.  She really wanted to go to Coach for some Christmas presents. Kate Spade moved in next to Coach recently so I popped in just to look.

Legitimately on the first table four of the rings were staring me in the face.  I was talking to one of the employees and she told me everything on the table was 50% off.  The original price was $68, I had a really hard time justifying $32 on a ring so close to Christmas.  I put it down and moved on looking around at everything else, and they even have shoes with this bow on them, I was dying.

The girl came other to me again as I was sadly staring at the rings, and said that 50% off the lowest marked price really isn't bad. When she said that I was like hold on these are marked down?! So I flipped over the tag on one of them and it said $28! I was so happy! I ran up to the register and purchased my new prize! I was so excited I even forgot to use the Kate Spade coupon in the outlet coupon  booklet, which would have been another 10% off.
Honestly though, I was happy to pay $14!

This is really extra weird for me because I NEVER go to the outlets, it is always a mob scene, and I never thought they actually had good deals.
So that is the story of how the gorgeous Kate Spade Bourgeois Bow Ring came to be mine.
